Progress Through Preservation

A 2025 reflection from my time at Filarmonika: the most meaningful work isn't always invention — it's building infrastructure that helps culture endure.

Some of the most meaningful work I’ve done has nothing to do with what’s new, but about preserving what already exists.

At Filarmonika, we publish and distribute music from across the Americas — works that might otherwise remain unheard or unperformed. Every score we prepare, every partnership we build, is a small act of preservation and access.

Progress isn’t always about invention. Sometimes it’s about infrastructure - building systems that help culture endure.

In a world obsessed with speed and instant gratification, it feels grounding to work on something meant to last.
